Songwriter and guitarist Russell Howard spent a decade “coloring outside the lines dividing indie folk and mainstream pop” (The Dallas Morning News) and touring the country with the likes of Howie Day, Teddy Geiger and Sister Hazel. After a fatherhood and covid induced hiatus, the now Carrboro based musician has set his sights in a new direction. As The Auxiliary, Russell’s music explores a new sonic universe replete with “refined sonorities” and “hypnotic soundscapes” provided by synths, loops, and forward looking production techniques. However, at the core of the Auxiliary remain Russell’s songwriting and guitar playing. Join Russell for a stripped back trip through songs old and new with an emphasis on atmosphere
